2020 Lexus RX vs 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE

When it comes to the luxury crossover market, there are tons of great options to choose from, including us right here at Lexus of Memphis. But with so many great options out there, we wanted to see exactly how well our midsize luxury crossover measures up to what many consider to be one of if not its greatest competitor. So, with that in mind, we’ve decided to pit the 2020 Lexus RX against the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Advantages of the 2020 RX

For the purposes of this side-by-side comparison, we’ve narrowed things down and picked two very similar versions of the Lexus RX and Mercedes-Benz GLE. As you can see from the table above, when looking it exact specifications, we’ve chosen to pit the 2020 Lexus RX 350 vs the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350. It doesn’t take long to figure out that each of these crossovers have their areas of expertise, but also aspects in which they’re quite similar.

Starting at the top of the table, we first looked at power ratings. The Lexus RX 350 is capable of generating 295 horsepower, which is 40 HP more than the Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 can muster. That’s a pretty healthy advantage that we’re sure you’d be able to notice were you to drive them back to back. Yet, despite the advantage in power, the Lexus model also deliver superior fuel efficiency. Not by much, as a single mile per gallon combined across city and highway driving would hardly be noticeable, but it does mean some saving as the gas pump.

In the third row, we looked at cargo capacity, which is where the Mercedes-Benz model turns things around in its favor by nearly doubling how much cargo capacity the Lexus crossover has to offer. An extra 14.7 cubic feet of space is a like a whole extra sedan trunk, so the GLE 350 certainly has a leg up there. Both crossovers, however, offer the same number of seats.
